In the summer of 2006, Marchforth launched it’s first brand called Unique Japan. Unique Japan (or ‘UJ’ as it is commonly known) offers a superb range of traditionally crafted products from all over Japan to western audiences. Unique Japan's motto is "Where Modern Life Meets Tradition."
Popular items include handcrafted kitchen knives from Takefu, in the Fukui prefecture and handmade pottery from Iga city. With domestic demand falling for traditionally made goods, UJ has been instrumental in helping to raise international awareness for Japanese craftsmanship and culture.
